Six-strand Billet Continuous Casting Machine automated as per the 1st and 2nd level with capacity of 800.000 thousand tons per year is designed to produce cast squares (100, 120, 125, 130 and 150 mm) and round billets (the diameter are 120, 130, 150, 180 mm) with open and shrouded stream casting. The caster is equipped with an electro magnetic stirrer enabling to produce high quality billets of carbon and low-alloy steel grades.
Molten steel is produced in the Electric Arc Furnace with subsequent treatment in the Ladle Furnace. If required to produce steel corresponding to specific requirements to content of gases, sulfur and non-metallic inclusions steel shall be vacuum treated. To obtain low concentrations of carbon steel is subjected to vacuum-oxygen decarburization in VD/VOD.

Surface quality: |
Billets are supplied in as-cast condition. Cast billet surface shall be free from teeming arrest, bleeding and cracks visible without magnifying instruments. If required surface defects are removed by manual grinding machines. Depth of grinding shall not exceed tolerances for diameter.
 |
Billet end quality: |
Laps of oxidized metal resulting from gas torch cutting at CCM are allowed on billet end faces. Visible marks of shrinkage holes resulting from torch cutting at CCM are not allowed on billet end faces.
 |
Marking: |
One billet end face shall have colour identification code, heat number and steel grade shall be specified on the bar side.
 |
Packing: |
Continuous cast billets of 6-12 m length are packed in bundles of 4-10 t weight. Two weather-resistant plastic tags are fixed onto bundles (with a thermal stamping) specifying the customer, purchase order number, steel grade, heat number, size, bundle number and country of destination. |
